Maine update - summer 2011

Here you go! Some photos (all taken today) of the progress here in Maine. Let it begin with the blueberries that are growing down by the river... I don't know if we'll have enough to make a pie, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Well, progress is happening. Progress is slow. Progress is GOOD. Today we received the boards for the front porch, lots of rocks for the retaining wall and I did my second load of laundry. RADICAL. We seem to have found a sink for the "powder room" and Grandma's bathroom (guest room bath) is taking shape as well. We have one bed and 2 chairs... but by tomorrow we should have a second bed. All very exciting. Oh... and Friday is also internet and phone day here at our place. Meaning, we will get connected. Exciting as well.

All right, so here are some photos. I will write a description and then post the photos being described just below, ok?

Hmm... where to start? Ok... the front entry! We have yet to paint the door or the entry walls, but we are loving the tile.

Here is Sol checking out my computer in the living room space - part of a larger space which contains the kitchen, dining area, entry and stairs to the lower level (guest room, guest bath, hang out zone (only room with TV), laundry, mechanical room, wine cellar, storage and Alex's workshop... and my office nook) ... stairwell is to the left of Sol.

This is the view from the living room space of the river, cottages and bridge... you can double click on any photo to enlarge.

Then this is the powder room vanity base (most likely)... $15 pine table at auction on Sunday.

This is the hallway to the bedroom building... this side of the house has Sol's bedroom and bath, our bedroom and bath, a utility closet and a loft upstairs which was GOING to be my studio/office and has recently evolved into Sol's playzone... ah well... I'll take the dark corner in the basement. It's fine. Really.

And then this is the view of the main room if I were to turn around and go back into the "great room" or "main" building.

The bedroom with the blue walls is Alex and mine - looks out at the river and cottages.

Sol's room has the yellow walls. Note the ceiling light... it's a SUN and is so awesome.

Here is the kitchen and dining area... separated by a dutch door that will eventually lead to a porch.

The kitchen is great. We need an island of some sort with a couple of stools, but it is amazing and we are really loving having some creature comforts... like hot water in the sink.

Our dining room table has yet to arrive from my sister's basement, but this table we got at the Restore/Habitat for Humanity is great!

And here is a photo of the kitchen sink scenario and view(ish)... the peonies are just coming out, so they are everywhere!

I will add some more shots soon of the other rooms, areas, outside... but that is what I have for you today! It is now 7:38pm and Sol has just fallen asleep - it was his first day without a nap in a while... he still naps regularly, but then is up until 10pm... so this feels VERY luxurious to have him DOWN and sleeping while the sun is still up. Yea, time to say good bye to the daily nap me thinks!

Hope this finds you well...

XO Liz, Alex and Sol (and Luna in the belly)
