Well, we just landed back in the US of A! We left Futaleufu on Sunday morning - March 9th - and there was frost on the ground! Brrrrrr... so the seasons have started to change and I have to say that I am glad we headed north when we did. I don't know if my 6-month-pregger-self would have embraced the shift in seasons as gracefully as one would hope... Brr!
We had a fantastic end to the Futaleufu season with a very busy February and early March. Alex and Eduardo (with the help of a 9 ton truck and a bulldozer) built a driveway on our land on the Futa. It is AMAZING. They have been hard at work cleaning the space where the cabin will go. It looks GREAT! Check out the video below for a quick land tour of "Los Arrayanes"!
Today, we went out to a lovely lunch in celebration of my Mom's 70th birthday at L'Escale. Alex and I were both a bit blown away by the contrast... "from fleece to this!" was our joke phrase of the day! Seriously... to go from living in a tent (which we love) in Patagonia to feeling very comfy at my Mom's and enjoying REALLY good grub (which we also love) in G-wich is just a funny contrast that we greatly appreciate. We felt VERY fortunate to be welcomed so warmly by my Mom and Harry. It was really great to share the day with them. Here is a photo of the four of us at lunch and also a shot of me and Alex with the 24 week belly.
We are off to Mexico next week to continue the Mom's 70th birthday celebration, then up to Maine, then down to Costa Rica and then - finally - hunkering down in CT for the Big Show before heading back up to Maine with THE newborn in July sometime. Crazy, huh? O... did I mention in my last post that the Doctor in Argentina that said it was a girl now believes it to be a boy?? Well, yes - apparently, we are awaiting a baby boy - craaazy!
Although we were sad to leave our Bio Bio family and sweet new spot in Futa, it is good to be back!
